NZ Election

Tdy is NZ Election. Similar to USA & Aust, Kiwis r looking for change and Helen Clark's Labour party is trailing as I'm writing.

Interestingly, the parties can 'advertise' in TV n newpapers........ in a Labour's TV advertisement, a kiwi says she simply can't trust the opposition party........ with no reasons mentioned....... looks rather kiddish to me!

City Dweller?

3 tourists asked for directions while on bus n I managed to direct them to the correct bus stop...... so that makes me an Auckland city dweller? heh.....

Apartment & Shopping.....

Rented a studio apartment already, it feels warm (v impt during winter!), v near to an asian supermkt, near to the only food hypermart in CBD, got asian restaurants nearby, unblocked scenery of Auckland domain (hilly area) and Auckland Museum, security at entrance & in lift...... only thing I dun like is 10mins walk to CBD shopping area and the nearest bus stop has no shelter...... ok, I complained too much??

since it's unfurnished, went around shopping tdy, spent $1500 so far on TV, vacuum cleaner, iron, hair dryer, electric kettle & mattress....... ya, furniture not bought yet! still can't get over the cheapest wooden bedframe cost $550! checking out a furniture hypermart tmw......

Strangers again

It's the 2nd time strangers trying to pick up conversations with me while walking on the streets...... the best way to shoo them away: 'huh? sori, dun know english.....'

Simple Eatery

Had a quick bite in a small chinese eatery in CBD n was so amazed how simply furnished it can be...... n there's usually no one at the cashier counter, geeez....

Workplace

Obviously the office is not in CBD area n how I wish it is! there's nowhere to shop n only one cafe around.......

colleague say it is acceptable in NZ that the ratio of structure capacity to structural loading to b min. 0.95.

this means it is acceptable in NZ for a structure to be structurally inadequate by 5%.

eg. if the load on structure is 100 ton, it is ok if the structure capacity is only 95 ton.

WOW! n NZ structures gotta withstand earthquakes somemore!

me nose cannot make up its mind

since arrival, my nose has been feeling different sensations everyday. sometimes dry, sometimes frozen cold with sharp pain, sometimes blocked, n now running wet. Yet I'm not down with cold, juz that gotta carry this indecisive nose around......

perhaps this is called climatization??

Got some demostration at Auckland CBD tdy, no one is really bothered by it, well it's an eye opener to me......

while the demostration is ongoing, some cheerful youngsters were singing free lovely tunes at the other side of the street.

Auckland Museum

not forgetting to tour, had made a trip to Auckland Museum last weekend. din went to c the exhibits, will do so if anyone coming over!
