while the demostration is ongoing, some cheerful youngsters were singing free lovely tunes at the other side of the street.

Got some demostration at Auckland CBD tdy, no one is really bothered by it, well it's an eye opener to me......

actually, such demonstrations are common outside sg. While i was in portugal earlier this year, the Hari Krishnas were having a demonstration in Lisbon. While the iraq war was taking place, i chanced on a demonstration while in stuttgart. almost every middle-eastern person was there.
I'm not sure how long you'd be there, but you might have your sense of values (monetary worth wise) displaced after a while. e.g. land costs are cheap, so saving up to buy a good house isn't such a lofty goal. Cars are cheaper, so buying a new car isn't so much of a status symbol. in fact, you can knock some of the 5Cs into the trash..
